George Colli IV is a small businessman with a family history that spans six generations in the 7th district.
Mr. Colli’s roots to the district trace back to 1847, when the Kennedy family settled on what is now Kennedy Rd in Windsor. His family has resided and done business in Windsor Locks, Enfield, Somers, Suffield and the Granby’s, as well, over the past160 years and his deep understanding of the history of this district forms the foundation for the direction he sees this area going in the future.
A third generation Realtor, Mr. Colli has sat at hundreds of kitchen tables working with families often at the most stressful times in their lives. He understands their struggles and triumphs and looks to partner with them as their State Senator in making Connecticut a more affordable place to live, raise a family and do business; while never ignoring the pride we all have in preserving our towns’ character and heritage.
A graduate of ProvidenceCollege ‘01 with a B.A. in Political Science, Mr. Colli has served on the Suffield Democratic Town Committee and was appointed to sit on the Advisory Committee on Capital Expenditures. His work on ACCE taught him the glaring need for more cooperation between the state and our towns. As State Senator, Mr. Colli will work to bridge the gap between labor and business and fight to return to the municipalities the funding they so desperately need.
Mr. Colli has worked in a family business that includes real estate, restaurant and property management. He understands the strain put on families and businesses by the rising cost of heat, power and property taxes. He will put the “walk” in the talk of making Connecticut more energy independent. He will start by giving subsidies to homes owners and businesses who invest in new clean and renewable sources of energy. He knows that job creation is a must and will work to bring good paying “green” collar jobs with benefits into the district.
Connecticut is 50th in the nation in retaining 18-34 year olds. George Colli will give tax credits for student loans to students who graduate from college in the state and remain here following graduation. He will also connect North Central Connecticut to Hartford, Springfield and beyond with a modern rail system that will make our towns centers vibrant once again. In difficult times, Mr. Colli knows that it will take bold initiatives and smart investments to solve the problems we face and secure the safety and future of the next generation.
